Pádraig Mac Caomhánaigh

Life
1922-85; ed. St Malachy’s Belfast, QUB and Maynooth; ordained; taught at St Malachy’s and St Mac Nissi College, Garron Towers, becoming president in 1972; learnt Irish at QUB and Gaeltacht; won Oireachtas prize with short story in 1972; Seans Eile (1963), a novel of clerical life, issued under the pseudonym Pádraig Uiséir (his mother’s name being Ussher), and Kao er wen (1965), an account of Bishop Galvin (d.1882-1956), founder of Maynooth mission to China.
