Life
?-1694; Jacobite general in William War, 1689-91; uncle of Donough MacCarthy, 4th earl of Clancart[y]; served under Tyrconnell in Ireland, 1687; took Bandon and disarmed the Protestants of Cork; created Viscount Mountcashel by James II, 1689; heavily defeated by William Wolseley and captured in cavalry action at battle of Newtown Butler, Co.
