Theophilus Cibber

1703-1758; son of Colley Cibber, appeared at Dublin, 1743; acted frequently at Smock Alley and was involved in first riot during Thomas Sheridan’s management at Crow Street; name appears on title-page of Lives of the Poets (1753), mainly compiled by Robert Sheils. ODNB OCEL

Oxford Companion of English Literature; Involved in scandal of persuading his wife, Susannah Maria, sister of Dr. Arne, to take a rich lover, John Sloper; Cibber died in a storm on the way to Smock Alley, Dublin. He had been born in the Great Storm of 1703.
