1912-1987 [neé McNamara]; b. Co. Clare; dg. Francis MacNamara of Doolin Hse., Co. Clare, from whom her mother separated under duress, raised nr. Fordingbridge; ed. Slade Art College; m. Anthony Devas (d.1958); with her sis. Caitlin, who m. Dylan Thomas; wrote novels, Bonfire (1958); Nightwatch (1961); Black Eggs (1970). also memoirs of artistic and literary society in Two Flamboyant Fathers (1966) and Susannah’s Nightingales (1978); m.
