Press, 1813; sole lessee, 1842; produced seven vols. of John ODonovan, ed., Annals of the Four Masters for the RIA; produced work of international standard; bought stocks, &c. from James MacGlashan, 1856; formed McGlashan & Gill, later M. H. Gill & Son; then Gill & Macmillan, 1968; father of H. J. Gill [q.v.]. DIB DIH
