and Industrial Division, 1936-56; assisted Pádraig O Duinnín revising Irish-English dictionary, 1923-27; translated works by classical and modern European poets, and wrote a study of European poetry which remains unpublished; modelled his poetry on Irish *bardic poetry and the example of sophisticated early modernists such as Theophile Gautier and Arthur Rimbaud, experimenting with verse forms and metres; d. Dublin.
