1702-1766 [Lally-Tollendal]; b. Romans, in Dauphiné, Jan. 1702; 2nd son of Sir Gerard Lally, from Tullaghnadaly, Co. Galway [hence Tollendal], a ‘wild goose’ who left Ireland in 1691 and m. Marie Anne de Bressac; victor at Fontenoy, and loser at Wandiwash, 1761; executed in Paris, 1766. ODNB
