Phil Lynott

Life
1949-86; b. West Bromwich; grew up with his grandparents in Dublin to avoid racism in Manchester - remaining close to his mother; ed. St Kevin's College in Crumlin, Co. Dublin; lead singer and founding member of the hard-rock band Thin Lizzie; m. Caroline Crowther, dg. of the ITV quiz-show compère Leslie Crowther, with whom three children [Sarah, Cathleen, and Oscar]; d. of septecemia caused by a heroin abuse while living at Kew in London; bur. St. Fintan’s, Sutton; a life-size statue by Paul Daly was erected in Harry St. (off Grafton St., Dublin) his memory, 2005; a silver Irish coin was issued in 2019; subject of biography by his mother (My Boy, 1996); Caroline remarried and settled in Britain with her children.
