1905-1981 [DIB sic]; b. Drogheda, ed. local Siena Dominican Confute; schol. to Metropolitan School of Art, Dublin; exhib. RHA at 21; studied in Paris and London, 1927-32; represented Ireland with Norah McGuinness at Venice Biennale in 1950; often confused by reason of style with Mary Swanzy [q.v.]; winner of Douglas Hyde Gold Medal, and Arts Council Award, Oireachtas, 1972; died in Drogheda hospital, Nov. 1981.
