Dublin Society Drawing Schools; took silver medal for figure-drawing, 1790; worked as portrait-painter in manner similar to Hugh Douglas Hamilton; completed Tilly Kettle’s port. of James Gandon [NGI]; re-est. Dublin exhibitions [RHA], 1800, with port. of Vincent Waldrè; noted more for good likenesses than special observation; d. 5 April 1852, Dublin. DIB
