Diocesan College, Cork, and St. Patrick’s College, Maynooth; ord. 1950; travelled in Africa and Near East; priest in Cork; awarded Adam Prize for Poetry, 1956; included in New Poets of Ireland (Denver 1953); poems collected as The Griffon Sings (1966); also issued Seven Year Island (1969), a novel set on Inishbofin, Co. Galway; issued further poetry collections, Yesterdays of the Heart (1989) and Swallows in December (2006), self-published; while The Isle of the Blest (1993) is an autobiography; winner of Adam prize; issued The Moon Canoe (2010).
