1824-1880; b. Newry, Co. Down, of poor family; protegée of Mrs S C Hall; settled in Scotland; contrib. Ayr Advertiser and Chambers’s Journal; publ. Miscellaneous Poems (1856?) [PI 2nd edn. with adds., Glasgow 1856] by ‘The Irish Girl’; also The Opening of the Sixth Seal and Other Poems (Ayr 1846); married imprudently to an intemperate man and died poor. PI RAF
