Life
1744-1801; Chancellor of Irish exchequer, 1785, and grandfather of Charles Stewart Parnell; MP for Bangor, 1761; Queens Co., 1783-1800; received £7,500 for loss of Maryborough representation at Act of Union. Opposed Catholic Emancipation; his port. is included in engraving of Irish House of Commons of 1790, now preserved in Bank of Ireland (College Green) [as figure No.146 in key]. ODNB DIB.
