1612-1689; TCD MA, 1633; captured by Fairfax at Nantwich, 1644; chaplain to royalist governor at Oxford; afterwards to Sir R. Bindloss at Berwick and 8th Earl of Derby at Lathom; employed by Derby on Isle of Man; rector of Winwick, 1600-89; Mercurius Christianus: The Practical Christian (1673); wrote a treatise against Quakerism (1654), and other works.
