?1668-1730 [Sir Thomas Vesey; 1st baronet ]; b. Cork, son of John Vesey [b.1638], Dean of Cork, and later Anglican bishop of Tuam, and his father's second wife, Anne Muschamp; m. Mary Muschamp, a cousin, and heir of Denny Muschamp, of Horsley, Surrey, and Elizabeth Boyle, through whom he came into considerable property; ed. Eton; Christ Church, Oxford, 1689; fellow of Oriel Coll.; 1698; created baron of Abbeyleix, 1698; ord. 1700; appt. Chaplain to James Butler (2nd Earl of Ormonde); appt. Archdeacon of Tuam, and afterwards bishop of Killaloe, 1713; bishop of Ossory, 1714; d. 6 Aug., 1730; buried St. Anne’s chruch, Dawson St., Dublin; his son John Vesey, became Baron Knapton, and his descendants become Viscounts de Vesci; intermarried with the Fitzgeralds, lords of Kildare.
